Our commitment to a greener Kosova
Over the past couple of years, we have steadily increased our commitment to community investments, with a growing focus on environmental protection and sustainability. This reflects our belief that businesses must play an active role in improving theplaces where we work and live.
From reforestation and urban greening to public transport awareness and support for climate-resilient businesses, our environmental initiatives aim to make a positive and lasting contribution to communities across the country.
Vlora Kasumi from the Sustainability and Communications Department has been closely involved in shaping the bank’s community investment efforts for many years. She shared her perspective:
“Community investment has always been about supporting people and creating value where it matters most. Whether through improving public spaces, backing cultural initiatives, or encouraging sustainable habits, each project contributes to a stronger and more vibrant community", she says.
"What motivates our work is seeing the difference these initiatives make in everyday life and knowing that our support helps create lasting, positive change.”
Below are some of the projects supported by the bank in recent years:
Reforestation using drone technology
One of our flagship engagements is our continued support for the Green Wings reforestation project. As the drone took off for its second season in November, around 25,000 seed pods were launched across 10 hectares of degraded land, helping restorenatural habitats in cooperation with Sustainability Leadership Kosova. Earlier, colleagues from our bank contributed by helping prepare the seed pods, adding a meaningful community element to the initiative.
Supporting Prishtina’s urban greenery
Our commitment to greener urban spaces has also grown significantly. In partnership with the Prishtina Municipality, we supported the transformation of Rexhep Luci Street into a welcoming square enhanced with trees and greenery. This builds on our earlier initiative in Bregu i Diellit, where we planted around 400 trees and plants across nearly one hectare. Beyond beautifying the area, this effort reduces pollution and creates a healthier, more enjoyable environment for residents.
Green Fest: A festival with a strong green agenda
Our environmental engagement also extends to cultural spaces. This year marked the 15th anniversary of the Green Festival in Mitrovica, an event that brings together music, creativity, and environmental action. With live music in the evenings and a strong focus on sustainability during the day, the festival
continues to raise awareness on environmental issues. We are glad to support it year after year as one of the country’s most energizing green initiatives.
Eco-friendly play equipment in Gërmia Park
Nature and community came together once again through our support for a renewed playground in Gërmia Park, now equipped with modern, eco-friendly play features. The upgraded playground offers families another reason to spend time outdoors while reinforcing the importance of healthy, nature-connected lifestyles.
Promoting public transport in Prishtina
Encouraging sustainable mobility remains a key priority. This year, we supported Trafiku Urban in producing an awareness video encouraging Prishtina residents to choose public transportation. The video highlights modern features such as mobile ticket payments and Wi-Fi connectivity, drawing public focus to cleaner mobility options. To further support this shift, the bank provided public transport tickets to around 300 colleagues commuting to our main office.
Supporting the Boost Kosovo Programme
For two consecutive editions (2023 and 2024), we have partnered with UNDP Kosovo’s Boost Kosovo programme, which helps businesses adapt to climate change and transition toward sustainable operations. By strengthening disaster resilience, promoting greener business models, and enhancing risk-management capacities, the programme is helping build a more climate-ready private sector in Kosovo.
Across all these initiatives - reforestation, greener neighborhoods, cultural awareness, improved public spaces, sustainable mobility, and climate-resilient
businesses—our focus remains clear: contributing to a healthier environment and supporting communities in their long-term growth and wellbeing.
